With the increase of people driving cars in Singapore every year, there has been lesser parking lots for Singaporeans to park their cars at. Carparks are often crowded, and parking lots are hard to find, causing frustrations and bad user experience to drivers around Singapore. "SmartPark" is designed to solve these hassles.
From the data collected, I can conclude that most people often look at the amount of cars or the visibility status of how many cars there are in the carpark before turning in. This shows that people are conscious of the parking lots available. When asked if there were any good experiences majority of them stated no, which were surprising and interesting. Probably due to the lots limited for parking spaces and thus causing frustrations towards the user experience of the carpark. A lot of the feedback also states that there should be clear indication of the status of lots available in the carpark spaces to make it easier for them.
Carpark processes is one that everyone often overlook. The frustrations faced by users are often irritating and annoying. This app is designed as one means to meet the needs of the users using the carpark, easing their convenience as well as creating an overall better user experience. One means to do so is to ease up the process of finding a carpark slot with the help of collection and analysis of real-time data.
Transport data sets made publicly accessible can be helped to review carpark availability of the slots.
The app targets to help the users to “book” a slot for their parking, and allows easier payment rather than physical coupons. With the current age of using eps, users can just book and go. Easing the experience of finding an carpark slot in crowded situations as well as avoiding frustrating situations such as no slots, having to drive around repeatedly just to find a spot to park, or even inconvenience, parking so far away that the user have to walk a distance to reach their destination.
